I simply LOOOOOVVVEEEE making Figurines and Cake Toppers. I recently took a Class with Joly Diaz, where she teaches how to make Figurines using Styrofoam in the body and head. I loved this class, because I could now create larger sized figurines to go on top of my cakes. This meant that the cake topper will be an absolute standout and more importantly, they will not be heavy like ones made with only fondant.
This cake was made for a lovely couple from Altona who wanted to celebrate their little precious girl Janisha’s 1st birthday in a very special way. Her mum gave me a photo of her little girl, and asked if I could try and make the figurine’s hair similar to Janisha’s.
The cake flavours were – Choc-Hazelnut Cake, layered with Hazelnut Buttercream and covered with delicious dark chocolate ganache.
The cake was covered in pearl finish fondant. Lower tier is striped with coordinating shades of pink, lavender and green stripes (design inspiration was from this colour palette https://www.pinterest.com/pin/190136415492863652/ )
